Festive Finnieston - Pop up shop at the Hidden Lane Cafe

Festive Finnieston - 5 December 2013

Have you checked out Finnieston in Glasgow lately? Along with its great range of new bars and restaurants, you can now avoid the city centre crush and get those special Christmas presents for everyone! Some of Finnieston's most creative businesses are coming together on the 5th of December to bring you Festive Finnieston - an evening of late night independent shopping, eating and drinking!

Pop-up Shop - In the Hidden Lane Tearoom, myself and other businesses from the Lane will be popping-up to offer you the opportunity to buy unusual Christmas gifts, or perhaps something special to treat yourself to. The other sellers will include designer Gillian Kyle , Finch & Fouracre modelmakers, Pink Grapefruit textiles and Pete Gillies Glass and Art. The Tea-room will also be offering lots of loose tea goodies.

Open Studios - Above the Hidden Lane Gallery on Argyle Street, artists Andy Peutherer and Michelle Campbell and jeweller Euan McWhirter will be opening their doors for a unique chance to see in their studios and buy a piece direct from the maker. Across from the Tearoom, Vanity Vintage boutique will be open.

The Main Drag - Elsewhere in Finnieston, Piece, the Shop of Interest, and the newly opened Cupcakery will be staying open late to tempt us with their wares, bringing in Christmas in quirky Finnieston style, and we hope to add more local favourites to the line up soon.

Happy New Year - Open on Saturdays - Gold

Looking forward to the next year with lots of exciting commissions and loads of new designs. After a very busy Christmas its back to the bench!

In the last few months of 2012 I enjoyed meeting more of my customers in the Hidden lane where my studio is based during the First Fridays events.

I'm now also open every Saturday, so more of customers can visit my studio and I'm looking forward to meeting more of you this year.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my job are undertaking commissions for clients and making them something completely unique. One of my favourite metals to work in is Yellow Gold and I recently enjoyed the Gold episode of this wonderful series The History of Colours on BBC4

I'm fortunate to be able to work with and manipulate this material into jewellery every day ...and I'm still in awe of its amazing colour and the possibilities it allows a jeweller.

Below are some examples of my favourite 18ct gold commissions. I'm looking forward to 2013 - what I will create this year?

Preparing for Christmas & New Pendants

I'm getting busy in the workshop now, preparing for Christmas and my studio will be open each Saturday between 10.30am and 4pm. If you are in the area you can pop down to the Hidden Lane off Argyle Street, where there is a great cafe and other creative studios open.

I am also now selling my work on the popular Not on the High Street website. Check out the website, it has some great ideas for Christmas presents.

I' m currently working on a range of pendants that incorporate birthstones, after being asked by various friends and customers.  The pendants can be further personalised by having an engraving of a name or a significant date in the inner silver band.

Below is a snapshot of a few examples: Pearl = June, Tanzanite = December, Aquamarine = March.

I love working with coloured gemstones and what could be a better gift to yourself or someone special.

Look out for more examples on my website once I have professional images completed.
