Preparing for Christmas & New Pendants

I'm getting busy in the workshop now, preparing for Christmas and my studio will be open each Saturday between 10.30am and 4pm. If you are in the area you can pop down to the Hidden Lane off Argyle Street, where there is a great cafe and other creative studios open.

I am also now selling my work on the popular Not on the High Street website. Check out the website, it has some great ideas for Christmas presents.

I' m currently working on a range of pendants that incorporate birthstones, after being asked by various friends and customers.  The pendants can be further personalised by having an engraving of a name or a significant date in the inner silver band.

Below is a snapshot of a few examples: Pearl = June, Tanzanite = December, Aquamarine = March.

I love working with coloured gemstones and what could be a better gift to yourself or someone special.

Look out for more examples on my website once I have professional images completed.

First Fridays at the Hidden Lane

The area where I work is called 'The Hidden Lane'. I've had my studio here for many years and it is tucked away off Argyle Street in the now thriving area of Finnieston.

The lane is home to many small businesses and a group of us are opening up our doors for the first Friday of every month, to let people come along and see us at work. Visitors can also buy or commission work.

The top image shows the window of my workshop. I hope to see you all soon!

Filming in the Hidden Lane

An exciting day in the workshop today, I had a film crew filming myself talking to Alan Cumming and Billy Boyd about working in the Hidden lane. This was for a new Sky Atlantic series called City Secrets. In each episode Alan Cumming visits a different city and discovers unique hidden gems off the tourist trail. Billy Boyd is definitely one of my favourite customers.

I was thrilled to be asked to make Billy Boyd and his wife’s wedding rings last year, and Billy thought it would be great to include the area where I work within the episode on Glasgow.

I’m not sure what will be included in the final edit - I’m not that used to being filmed chatting to famous actors, so who knows what actually said!!!

proposal card

I've had a few commissions recently where the groom-to-be has wanted allow their partner to be involved in designing their own engagement ring. It's a great idea as it can be quite a daunting task choosing THE ring !

For those guys about to embark on this nerve racking process, I can supply an appointment card which can be presented like the one pictured above.

If you prefer, you can choose a loose diamond /precious stone to propose with and we can design the ring around this. This way of proposing can be equally romantic as you can then decide together and both enjoy the commissioning process.
